Recently, B&D Doors New Zealand was selected as a finalist for the Skills Highway Award category that made up part of The Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) Trust Diversity Awards for 2015.

We were given recognition for the way we have assisted employee’s to see a future for themselves within the company no matter what their age or ethnicity. By supporting greater education in lean manufacturing as well as literacy and numeracy skills we have fostered greater employee input around new layouts and procedures within numerous areas of the Christchurch site, to the betterment of the company as a whole.

The award was won by Goodman Fielder New Zealand, a large food manufacturing and distribution company with around 1800 employees, across 16 sites from Auckland to Dunedin.

Although we didn’t win this time round, we take great pride in being a Finalist in such a prestigious celebration of companies that are upholding diversity in the workplace. Such well known businesses as; Accor Hotels, Ministry of Education, New Zealand Police, Sovereign, New Zealand Custom Services, Bupa Care Services NZ Ltd, New Zealand Defence Force, Vodafone, HSBC Bank, Vector Limited, ASB Bank Limited, ANZ Bank New Zealand, Goodman Fielder NZ Limited and Simpson Grierson among others.

As part of the awards process, a short background video was produced of B&D Doors. We now have this up on YouTube and on Facebook, (You may need to send these links home if you don’t have access to the sites through work.)
